Frequently asked questions
-
If you don't use a winterisation product, algae can develop and limescale can deposit and stain your pool lining. To avoid these problems, it's essential to use the right winterisation product.
What product should I use to winterise my pool?
Puripool® Super contains anti-scale and anti-algae agents that prevent the formation of scale and the proliferation of algae. This product is compatible with all types of treatment (bromine, chlorine, salt electrolysis, active oxygen) and all filtration systems (sand, glass or cartridge filters).
-
At the end of the season, it's essential to treat your pool specifically to protect it over the winter. There are two ways to winterise your pool: active winterisation, where the filtration is kept running at a reduced level, and passive winterisation, which involves turning off the filtration completely. Each of these options has its advantages, depending on your needs and the weather conditions.
-
Frost and cold can damage your above-ground pool (wooden, steel or tubular) and its filtration system. When temperatures drop below 15°C, you need to store or winterise your above-ground pool at the end of the season. Whatever your above-ground pool model, remember to protect it during the winter!
If you've opted for a freestanding or tubular inflatable pool, simply dismantle your pool and store it in a dry place, after draining it, drying the liner and folding it up.
If you have opted for a pool that cannot be dismantled (in kit form, made of wood or steel, etc.), your pool will remain in your garden all winter. So you'll need to winterise your above-ground pool, treat it and protect it against bacteria, micro-organisms and limescale deposits, by choosing one of two possible winterisation techniques: traditional winterisation known as ‘passive winterisation’, or dynamic winterisation known as ‘active winterisation’.
-
To preserve water quality and protect installations during winter, it is recommended to use a specific winterising product, such as Puripool® Super. This type of product prevents algae formation, limits limescale deposits and greatly facilitates restarting in spring.
What are the advantages of a winterising product such as Puripool Super?
- Prevents the growth of algae
- Reduces limescale and dirt deposits on the pool walls
- Makes it easier to restart the pool after winter
- Formulated without phosphates
- Suitable for all types of swimming pools (in-ground, above-ground, covered or uncovered)
-
The amount of winterising product required depends on the volume of water in your pool and the product used.
For Puripool® Super from BAYROL, the recommended dose is 500 ml for 10 m³ of water.
Example:
- The pool is 30 m³ → 1.5 litres of Puripool Super
- The pool is 50 m³ → 2.5 litres of Puripool Super
Before adding the product, it is advisable to clean the pool and adjust the pH (between 7.0 and 7.4).
