Preparing for the next pool season

With the rising temperatures and the first sunbeams, pool owners prepare for the pool season. Now is the time to ensure the pool water is crystal clear for bathing. Our expert gives valuable tips on preparation for the pool season.

The spring is the ideal time to turn attention to the filter. Over the winter the water from the pool would have been drained or water level lowered. Thus the filter unit would have not been in use.

Before filling the pool with new water, pool owners should examine the filter media. Dirt in the filter reduces the efficiency of the filtration process and can lead to multiple problems during the season. The first step is to clean and losen sand in the filter to ensure the filtration process runs smoothly. Areas with high hardness levels can expect firm sand with limescale. Decalcit Filter from BAYROL can decalify the filter quickly and easily and the firm sand becomes loose and as new again. If a filter change has been planned, it is recommended to replace media with the new Activated FilterGlass from BAYROL.

Actvated Filter Glass

There are many good reasons for using Activated FilterGlass:

BAYROL experts found out that over 60% of all problems within the swimming pool are caused by the filter. Insufficient backwashing, leads to the enrichment of dirt in the filter.

Dirt and bacteria can settle easily on the surfaces of the quartz sand used in the filter. Therefore a more efficient alternative to the classic quartz sand for the pool filter was needed.The result of this research is Activated FilterGlass. BAYROL believes this media to be highly effective, environementally friendly and made from recycled glass.

The glass is cut up and cleaned and goes through a special chemical process where the glass grains are activated. Through the activation the glass grains receive a special charge, allowing even the smallest dirt particles and organic matter to be filtered out without any problems.

A further advantage over the quartz sand is that due to the smooth surface, practically no bacteria can adhere to it. The special disinfectant can fight bacteria making it highly effectively, allowing the filter to remain hygenically clean.

Important: the weight of Activated FilterGlass is lower than quartz sand, resulting in a noticeable improvement when backwashing. Dirt is removed during backwashing giving a clean filter, cleaner than if quartz sand was used.
